Nisreen Abrahams - Director
Age: 28
Ethnicity: Indian

A qualified chartered accountant, Nisreen completed articles with KPMG in Cape Town in October 2001.
During her three years at KPMG, she gained extensive experience in the small business environment, public sector
and oil and gas industries. In addition, her experience also encompasses other industries such as retail, manufacturing and financial services, with a focus on employee benefits.

In October 2001, Nisreen relocated to the United States where she spent one year working at the KPMG Los Angeles office. The industries of focus were the following:
Oil and Gas
Public Sector
Film and Music
Information Technology, Software Development and dot.com companies

Her public sector experience is noteworthy as she was involved in many projects with government agencies involving adopting the new GASB statements promulgated in the United States, which essentially was a movement from Financial Accounting statements (FASB's) to Government Accounting statements. During the period Nisreen worked in the United States, there was also a requirement that government agencies account for transactions on the accrual basis rather that the cash basis. Nisreen was instrumental in assisting her clients in implementing the new accounting methodology.

Her public sector clients included the following:
City of Los Angeles and the Greater Los Angeles County
Los Angeles Community College District (a controlling government body for all colleges owned by government)
Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority
City of Thousand Oaks
Nisreen also focused on training across the United States. She trained KPMG's audit methodology to KPMG's new staff intake.

In January 2003, Nisreen returned to the Owner Managed Business division at the KPMG Cape Town office as a manager. Her duties were mainly to manage her client portfolio, market the division and source new work, dealing with staff issues and presentations on behalf of the division.

Her clients during this time were predominantly in the oil and gas, motor vehicle, shipping, software, telecommunications, property management, government and non-profit industries. Nisreen left KPMG's employ on 30 September 2003 and started ICE Advisory Services (Pty) Limited.
